JUNE 13, 2011
We first met during a job interview. Ken was applying to return to SOE (now Daybreak Games) and Midi interviewed him for the role of Game Master for EverQuest II. Midi recommended him for the job, but in the two years of working together, he would regularly go against convention and her guidance saying that he knew better, making him difficult to work with. lol.
JUNE 30, 2011
Shortly after Andy is hired, Midori and Andy become friends on social media, strictly professional.
APRIL 20, 2015
Midori was working in marketing at Coleman University, and regularly posted to see if any friends were interested in volunteering to be in a TV commercial for the school. When it came time for the Game Design program to have its own spot, Andy volunteered. Midi hadn't spoken to Andy in years, but thought, "yeah, he's cute enough to be on TV," and submitted him for the commercial.
MAY 16, 2015
After we caught up a bit over Messenger during the shoot, Andy proposed a date. Our mutual friend, Anne, convinced Midi to give it a shot (thanks, Anne!). We had our first date to see Mad Max: Fury Road and we had so much fun talking before and after the movie that the date spilled over into a friend's HP-themed birthday party that Midori had intended to attend alone (thanks, Michelle!).
MAY 24, 2015
Our second (and third and fourth and fifth...) dates happened in quick succession, often with only a day or two between them. We clearly really liked spending time with each other while we hiked Stonewall Peak, sampled many brunches and breweries, and played lots of Heroes of the Storm.
OCTOBER 1, 2015
Back when Andy started flirting with Midori, she told him about her plans to visit Austin, TX for a convention called MondoCon. When the time rolled around for the trip, Midori decided to invite Andy. So he bought a plane ticket and they went on their first of many adventures, ultimately leading to the first time they said "I love you," after a small hike up Mt Bonnell.
JANUARY 23, 2016
Andy attends his first Big Bear trip, an annual tradition among Midi's friendgroup (and kind of a big deal).
JULY 16, 2016
Rabbert (and his human) moved in to terrorize Andy's cats at his house in San Marcos.
MARCH 19, 2017
We met the weirdest little goblin in a dog's body. When we met him, all he did was grimace at us when we tried to pet him and chew on our shoes. For some reason, we took him home anyway. He turned out to be the most sweet, smart, funny, and neurotic little puppo.
NOVEMBER 3, 2017
Throughout our relationship, Heroes of the Storm has been our favorite game. In 2017, we got to celebrate that together at Blizz-Con (the last good Blizz-Con, according to the internet)
MARCH 31, 2018
On this day, a language barrier and Andy's awkwardness caused him to spend over $100 on a lobster he didn't even really want. This doesn't have much to do with our relationship, it's just still very funny.
MAY 20, 2018
Midori had always told Andy about how she couldn't make it to the top of Angel's Landing the first time she visited Zion National Park. So for our three year anniversary, we took a little roadtrip in Andy's new truck to Utah and made it to the top together in the hot, hot heat.
SEPTEMBER 13, 2019 - She Said Yes!
Back in Austin TX, on Friday the 13th under a full Harvest Moon, while floating on a donut-boat on Lady Bird Lake to watch thousands of bats fly out from under the Congress Bridge, we got engaged!
April 10, 2021
We moved to coolest little apartment in the Humboldt neighborhood of Portland OR and had a blast there. We could walk to so many amazing art galleries, farmers markets, restaurants, shops, breweries... we even lived a few blocks away from one of the most delicious patisseries in the city.
December 21, 2021 - We bought a house!
As cool as Portland was, we were sad to be so far away from family, so we moved back to California after finding a nice house in Murrieta with an awesome back yard.
August 31, 2022
More yard meant more dog, so we added a little baby Basenji into our household. Kuzco hated having a brother initially but they get along now, and Pacha is ridiculously spoiled.
May 16, 2024
After 5 years of trying to decide if or where we wanted to elope, we finally picked a date to tie the knot with friends and family!
